CORFU FOODS, INC. is a leading manufacturer and marketer of the highest quality gyros meat products.

Founded by Mr. Vasilios Memmos in March of 1970, the company has always had its headquarters in Bensenville, IL.In the early spring of 1970, Mr. Memmos observed that the popularity of the “Gyro Sandwich” among Greek restaurants in Chicago was overwhelming. At the time each restaurant had the burden of creating their own individual mix. What he found to be missing from the market was a standard gyros formula, with a consistent taste and spice profile.

With that in mind he started to manufacture and distribute Corfu Gyros, in the beginning supplying just a few select Greek restaurants on Halsted Street in Chicago’s Greek-town.

Today CORFU FOODS owns and operates a state-of-the-art, 105,000 square foot, USDA approved facility. Their products are supplied to over 300 distributors in 50 states and exported to Canada, Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. Along with the production of gyros, CORFU FOODS has expanded its product lines to include, among other items, beef patties, chopped steak, Italian sausage, Italian beef and breakfast sausage links. These products cater to both the food service and the retail markets

CORFU FOODS is a privately held company. Mr. Memmos is the President and C.E.O. and plays an active role in all facets of the business with the same determination and enthusiasm as when he started in 1970.

In 1997 CORFU FOODS partnered with MEDITERRANEAN PITA in Astoria N.Y.

The two companies, with their combined lines of manufactured and imported products, offer their clientele the convenience of two distribution center locations, one in the North East and one in the Mid-West.
